Article Synopsis
  • Melatonin (MT) helps plants cope with stress, and this study explored its effects on oregano plants under moderate drought conditions by using foliar sprays of 10 and 100 μM MT.
  • The 100 μM MT spray was more effective than the 10 μM spray, improving chlorophyll content and photosystem II (PSII) function, notably enhancing the oxygen-evolving complex's efficiency and reducing photoinhibition.
  • It was found that the higher MT concentration increased non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), which lowered harmful singlet-excited oxygen production and boosted electron transport rates, improving PSII functionality during drought stress.

Background: Detection of nodal metastasis is critical for the treatment and prognosis of head and neck cancer (HNC). Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is increasingly being used to detect cervical lymph node involvement.

Aim: The purposes of this study were to (1) investigate the diagnostic accuracy of PET/CT for the detection of neck metastasis in patients with HNC and (2) determine the effect of the time interval between surgery and PET/CT.

Melatonin (MT) is considered a new plant hormone having a universal distribution from prokaryotic bacteria to higher plants. It has been characterized as an antistress molecule playing a positive role in the acclimation of plants to stress conditions, but its impact on plants under non-stressed conditions is not well understood. In the current research, we evaluated the impact of MT application (10 and 100 μM) on photosystem II (PSII) function, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and chlorophyll content on mint ( L.

Background: It isimportant to evaluate the vaccine-related metabolic changes on FDG PET/CT to avoid confusing results. We here aimed to assess the frequency and intensity of regional and systemic metabolic PET/CT changes of patients who received the mRNAbased COVID-19 vaccine (BNT162b2-Pfizer/BioNTech) and to analyze possible factors affecting these changes.

Methods: Among the patients who underwent FDG PET/CT for any indication in our department between July 2021 and December 2021, 129 volunteer patients with a history of COVID-19 vaccination were included in this prospective observational study.

Dramatic climate change has led to an increase in the intensity and frequency of drought episodes and, together with the high light conditions of the Mediterranean area, detrimentally influences crop production. Salicylic acid (SA) has been shown to supress phototoxicity, offering photosystem II (PSII) photoprotection. In the current study, we attempted to reveal the mechanism by which SA is improving PSII efficiency in oregano seedlings under moderate drought stress (MoDS).
