A 47-year-old Japanese man was first admitted to our hospital for 8 days because of an asthma attack. After discharge he changed his diet. On the 12th day after his discharge, he was re-admitted to our hospital because he exhibited transient loss of consciousness with flapping tremor.

An 81-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with a fever and loss of appetite. After treatment with piperacillin sodium (PIPC), the patient exhibited thrombocytopenia, hemorrhagic colitis, and drug-induced skin eruption. On the fifth day after PIPC induction, he further experienced neurological abnormalities, such as disorientation and confusion, renal dysfunction, and microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA).

The aim of the present study was to compare the characteristics of early gastric cancer between the complete-resection group (56 patients) and the incomplete-resection group (10 patients). The results showed that the incomplete-resection group included a significantly higher proportion of patients with large lesions and patients in whom the lesion was located at the body or lesser curvature of the stomach.

However, little information is available concerning pathophysiological process of such duodenal diseases in liver cirrhosis. Hemodynamics of the duodenal mucosa was studied in cirrhotics with esophageal varices (68 cases) and in noncirrhotics with non-ulcer dyspepsia (37 cases) as well.
