Metproxybicyclone, a Novel Carbocyclic Aryl-dione Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase-Inhibiting Herbicide for the Management of Sensitive and Resistant Grass Weeds.

Postemergence control of grass weeds has become problematic due to the evolution of resistance to 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase, acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), and acetolactate synthase-inhibiting herbicides. Herein we describe the invention and synthesis journey toward metproxybicyclone, the first commercial carbocyclic aryl-dione ACCase-inhibiting herbicide for the cost-effective management of grass weeds in dicotyledonous crops and in preplant burndown applications. Glasshouse and field experiments have shown that metproxybicyclone is safe for use on soybean, cotton, and sugar beet, among other crops.

Dairy versus non-dairy cheese texture: Sensory and instrumental contrasts.

With growing consumer demand for plant-based products that mimic the eating experience of animal-based products, there is a need for improvement in instrumental measurements of sensory texture. This study aimed to characterize textural differences between dairy and non-dairy cheeses, and to investigate whether Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear (LAOS) rheometry could discriminate sensory texture better than Texture profile analysis. Commercial dairy and non-dairy cheddar, mozzarella, and cream cheese were selected to provide a wide range of textures.

Promoting antifungal stewardship through an antifungal multidisciplinary team in a paediatric and adult tertiary centre in the UK.

Background: Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) present significant challenges, especially among immunocompromised patients, with associated high morbidity, mortality and significant economic impact. Diagnostic difficulties and the emergence of antifungal resistance necessitates enhanced antifungal stewardship (AFS) efforts.

Methods: We report outcomes from a review of our multidisciplinary approach to AFS, based in a 1300-bed teaching hospital in the South-West of England.

The REPERFUSE study protocol: The effects of vasopressor therapy on renal perfusion in patients with septic shock-A mechanistically focused randomised control trial.

Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication of septic shock and together these conditions carry a high mortality risk. In septic patients who develop severe AKI, renal cortical perfusion is deficient despite normal macrovascular organ blood flow. This intra-renal perfusion abnormality may be amenable to pharmacological manipulation, which may offer mechanistic insight into the pathophysiology of septic AKI.
