Adapted physical activity (APA) provides children and youth with disabilities more opportunities to be physically active. Nevertheless, it is not well known how APA implementation in different services has benefited them. This study reviews the existing literature on APA interventions to identify characteristics and program descriptions, and to primarily synthesize information relating to the goals, for children and youth with disabilities.

This study was conducted to find out characteristics of trace element levels and those impacts to organisms at a former uranium (U) mining site. Concentrations of trace elements (Li, Mg, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Mo, Cd, Cs, Ba, Pb, Bi, and U) were determined in sediments, water, and three organism types (insects, frogs, and newts) from three zones in the former U mining site, Ningyo-toge in Japan. Concentrations of As and U in the sediments and water samples were the highest at the mill tailings pond (MP) site, where post-U extraction remnants have been accumulated.

Reactive sulfur species (RSS), such as hydrogen per (poly)sulfide, cysteine per (poly)sulfide, glutathione per (poly)sulfide, and protein-bound per (poly)sulfides, can easily react with environmental electrophiles such as methylmercury (MeHg), because of their high nucleophilicity. These RSS are produced by enzymes such as cystathionine β-synthase (CBS) and cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE) and are found in mammalian organs. Organs of wildlife have not been analyzed for hydrogen sulfide, cysteine, glutathione, and RSS.

To the best of our knowledge, the method of prediction coordinates is the only forecasting method in nonlinear time series analysis that explicitly uses the stochastic characteristics of a system with dynamical noise. Specifically, it generates multiple predictions to jointly infer the current states and dynamical noises. Recent findings based on hypothesis testing show that weather is nonlinear and stochastic and, therefore, so are renewable energy power outputs.

A previous study by our group indicated that methylmercury (MeHg) is biotransformed to bismethylmercury sulfide [(MeHg)S)] by interaction with reactive sulfur species (RSS) produced in the body. In the present study, we explored the transformation of MeHg to (MeHg)S in the gut and the subsequent fate of (MeHg)S in vitro and in vivo. An ex vivo experiment suggested the possibility of the extracellular transformation of MeHg to (MeHg)S in the distal colon, and accordingly, the MeHg sulfur adduct was detected in the intestinal contents and feces of mice administered MeHg, suggesting that (MeHg)S is formed through reactions between MeHg and RSS in the gut.
