Liver Transplantation for Polycystic Disease: Experience and Results of a Single-Center Series.

Polycystic liver disease (PLD) is a hereditary condition, and its symptoms are due to the growth of cysts. Liver transplantation (LT) is the only curative treatment. A retrospective single-center analysis was conducted on the 10 LTs performed for PLD between 2004 and 2023.

Preservation of Liver Graft Using the Hypothermic Oxygenated Perfusion (HOPE) System: A single-center experience.

Introduction: The hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (HOPE) system has been developed to improve the quality of previously considered suboptimal liver grafts, reduce complications, and increase the number of available donors. The aim of this study is to evaluate the results since its implementation in the liver transplant (LT) program at our center.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective descriptive analysis of all LTs with HOPE from August 2022 to November 2023 with a minimum follow-up of 3 months.

Exploring the impact of a chemical disinfectant and an antiviral drug for RNA virus management in the Mediterranean fruit fly mass-rearing.

The Mediterranean fruit fly is an agricultural pest of a wide variety of fruit crops. An effective method to counteract them in the field is through the application of the sterile insect technique, which requires the mass-production of sterile males. The presence of pathogens, and specifically viruses, threatens the well-being of mass-reared insects generating an interest on the development of strategies for viral elimination or containment.

Deciphering the role of neutral diruthenium complexes in protein binding.

The charge of paddlewheel diruthenium complexes has a major role in defining their interaction with proteins: negatively charged complexes bind proteins non-covalently, while cationic complexes form adducts where the Ru core binds to Asp side chains at the equatorial sites, or to the main chain carbonyl groups or the side chains of His, Arg or Lys residues at the axial sites. Here we study the interactions of the neutral compound [Ru(D-p-FPhF)(OCCH)(OCO)]·3HO (D-p-FPhF = N,N'-bis(4-fluorophenyl)formamidinate), a very rare example of a paddlewheel diruthenium compound with three different equatorial ligands, with the model protein bovine pancreatic ribonuclease (RNase A) by means of UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD), electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and X-ray crystallography. It is the first attempt to investigate the binding of a neutral diruthenium compound to a protein.

Introduction: Translation is a fundamental process of life. In eukaryotes, the elongation step of translation is highly conserved and is driven by eukaryotic translation elongation factors (eEF)1A and eEF2. A significant variation of the elongation is the activity of eukaryotic elongation factor (eEF) 3 in encoded by the gene yeast elongation factor () with orthologs in all fungal species, a few algae, and some protists.
