Objective: Evaluate the incidence of pigment epithelial tear when intravitreal delayed-release dexamethasone implant is administered (off-label use) prior to antiangiogenic treatment in pigment epithelium detachments (PED) secondary to neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) with high-risk rupture characteristics and investigate if it causes a decrease in the PED size.

Methods: Patients with nAMD, PED height >500 microns and Ozurdex implant prior to the antiangiogenic therapy were included. The presence of pigment epithelium rupture in optical coherence tomography scans, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and PED measurements (maximum height and diameter) were registered.

Mutations in in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are associated with poor patient responses to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB), and introduction of a () mutation into murine lung adenocarcinomas driven by mutant and loss () resulted in an ICB refractory syngeneic tumor. Mechanistically this occurred because mutant NSCLCs lacked TCF1-expressing CD8 T cells, a phenotype recapitulated in human mutant NSCLCs. Systemic inhibition of Axl results in increased type I interferon secretion from dendritic cells that expanded tumor-associated TCF1PD-1CD8 T cells, restoring therapeutic response to PD-1 ICB in tumors.

Multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF) tyramide signal amplification is a new and useful tool for the study of cancer that combines the staining of multiple markers in a single slide. Several technical requirements are important to performing high-quality staining and analysis and to obtaining high internal and external reproducibility of the results. This review manuscript aimed to describe the mIF panel workflow and discuss the challenges and solutions for ensuring that mIF panels have the highest reproducibility possible.

Currently available anti-scarring treatments for glaucoma filtration surgery (GFS) have potentially blinding complications, so there is a need for alternative and safer agents. The effects of the intrableb administration of a new combination of the anti-VEGF bevacizumab, sodium hyaluronate and a collagen matrix implant were investigated in a rabbit model of GFS, with the purpose of modulating inflammation, angiogenesis, fibroblast migration and fibrogenesis in the wound healing process. A comparative-effectiveness study was performed with twenty-four rabbits, randomly assigned to the following treatments: (a) biodegradable collagen matrix implant (Olo), (b) bevacizumab-loaded collagen matrix implant (Olo-BVZ), (c) bevacizumab-loaded collagen matrix implant combined with sodium hyaluronate (Olo-BVZ-H5) and (d) sham-operated animals (control).
