Bridging the Gap: Promoting Interventional Pain Medicine as a Future for Family Physicians.

The use of interventional pain medicine (IPM) has been growing over the past few years, offering relief to patients suffering from acute and chronic pain who have failed conservative therapies. Pain is one of the top complaints that family physicians encounter, yet there is no official pain medicine (PM) fellowship or recognized training program that favors family medicine graduates. Although family medicine residency programs allot a certain amount of time to teaching trainees in PM, this is considerably insufficient and does not dedicate ample time for procedural treatments.

Neuromyelitis Optica: A Deceiving Disorder of Demyelination.

Neuromyelitis optica (NMO), also known as Devic syndrome, is an autoimmune inflammatory and demyelinating disorder that affects the optic nerves and spinal cord. It is believed to be attributed to aquaporin-4 antibodies, a water channel expressed on astrocytes. It commonly presents with isolated or recurrent attacks of myelitis and optic neuritis.

Detection of Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma on F-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography-computed Tomography.

Aims And Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), ranks as the third most prevalent malignancy contributing to cancer-related death on a global scale. Hepatocellular carcinoma is known to be the fifth most frequently diagnosed malignancy of the males while among females, it is ranked as the seventh most common malignancy. The study was conducted to detect the sensitivity of primary HCC using F-flourodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (FDG PET-CT) scan.

Molar Incisor Hypomineralization in adolescents and adults and its association with facial profile and occlusion.

Objectives: To date, there are no data available in the scientific literature about the diagnosis of Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) in adults. We aimed to assess the MIH prevalence and clinical characteristics in adolescents and adults and its association with facial profile and occlusion.

Materials And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, permanent teeth were evaluated in 275 patients between the ages of 12 and 49 at a dental clinic, using intraoral photographs.

A Case Report of Marfan Syndrome Presenting With Atypical Chest Pain: A 28-Year-Old Male With Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI).

Marfan syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder of the connective tissue. It results in a mutation in the Fibrillin-1 protein gene. We present a case of  Marfan's syndrome in a young adult with life-threatening, sudden onset of chest pain secondary to a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in the setting of an aortic pseudoaneurysm.
