Syphilis is a disease with ocular involvement may be opening and cover all ocular structures. The objective of the study was to retrospectively identify and describe all cases of ocular syphilis diagnosed in the ophthalmology department of Besançon University Hospital from March 2004 to April 2014. Between March 2004 and April 2014, we diagnosed and monitored 9 male patients (13 eyes) with ocular syphilis (1 interstitial keratitis, chorioretinitis associated with a 1 hyalite, 3 panuvéites, 1 chorioretinitis after placoid, 3 bilateral papillary edema).

Materials And Methods: A prospective, observational study of 21 patients with CRVO compared with an age- and sex-matched control group of 23 volunteers was performed. All participants were tested for: cholesterol, hypertension, factors VIII, IX, and XI, homocysteine, antiphospholipid antibodies, antithrombin III, proteins C and S, protein Z and protein Z antibodies, resistance to activated protein C, factor V Leiden mutation, prothrombin mutation, MTHFR genotypes, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) polymorphisms.

Bell's palsy is an idiopathic and acute, peripheral nerve palsy resulting in inability to control facial muscles on the affected side because of the involvement of the facial nerve. This study describes a case of Bell's palsy that developed after dental anaesthesia. A 34-year-old pregnant woman at 35 weeks of amenorrhea, with no history of systemic disease, was referred by her dentist for treatment of a mandibular left molar in pulpitis.

The interpolyelectrolyte complexation was followed by turbidimetry and small angle neutron scattering (SANS). The data obtained by means of a combination of SANS, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) provide evidence on the core-shell-corona structure of the complex species with the shell assembled from fragments of electrostatically bound PMANa and quaternized P4VPQ fragments, original PIBx-b-PMAAy micelles apparently playing a lyophilizing part.

Human natural killer (NK) cell, which is an important lymphocyte for immune surveillance, is highly sensitive to heat, but the nature of its response to and its mechanistic regulation by heat remain unclear. Here we determined the effect of in vitro heat shock and in vivo hyperthermia on human NK cell cytotoxicity. Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) obtained from healthy volunteers were subjected to heat shock in vitro (42 degrees C, 1 h).
