Visual Improvement With Wavefront-Guided Scleral Lenses for Irregular Corneal Astigmatism.

Purpose: To report interim results of a single center, randomized, double-blind, crossover-controlled clinical trial comparing wavefront-guided (wfg) scleral lenses (SLs) to traditional scleral lenses (tSLs) for patients with a history of irregular corneal astigmatism (ICA).

Methods: Thirty-one ICA eyes of 18 participants were reviewed, 23 with keratoconus, six postcorneal refractive ectasia, and two postpenetrating keratoplasty. Patients with corneal or lens opacities were not excluded from participating.

2024 ACLP Recommendations for Training Residents in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

Background: Despite rapid shifts in consultation-liaison psychiatry (CLP) training in residency, including increasing general residency training requirements from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, greater utilization of advanced practice providers, and effects of the coronavirus-2019 pandemic, the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry has not updated recommendations for residency training in CLP since 2014. A national survey of residency program directors in 2021 suggested many changes to the structure of CLP rotations at individual programs over the past decade.

Objective: These recommendations are intended to guide residency program directors toward optimizing CLP training for all residents, including those who will eventually pursue CLP fellowship.

COVID-19 Vaccination Recommendations for Immunocompromised Patient Populations: Delphi Panel and Consensus Statement Generation in the United States.

Introduction: The United States Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend COVID-19 vaccines for all immunocompromised individuals. Certain disease groups are at increased risk of comorbidity and death for which disease-specific recommendations should be considered. The objective of the Delphi panel of experts was to summarize expert consensus on COVID-19 vaccinations for patients with rheumatologic disease, renal disease, hematologic malignancy and solid organ transplant (SOT) in the US.

Purpose: Keratoconus is a progressive disease characterized by changes in corneal shape, resulting in loss of visual function. There remains a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding its underlying pathophysiology. This review aims to bridge this gap by exploring structural failures and inflammatory processes involved in the etiology and progression of keratoconus.
