Background: Bronchopneumonia (BP) can cause pulmonary hypertension (PH) and secondary cardiovascular changes.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe PH-related transthoracic Doppler echocardiography (TTE) changes in preweaned dairy calves with BP diagnosed by thoracic ultrasonography (TUS).

Animals: One hundred and sixty-four calves were selected from 11 commercial dairy farms.

This study describes the echocardiographic reference intervals in a large sample of Golden retrievers from the database of the Italian Veterinary Observatory for Cardiac Diseases. The echocardiographic variables and the cardiac functionality indexes obtained from 2012 to 2022 in 214 (122 females, 92 males) healthy adult Golden retrievers were compared with the previously published data for this breed and with data from the general canine population and other breeds. The diastolic left ventricular internal diameter and the left ventricle's systolic and diastolic allometric indices were higher than those reported for the general canine population (P<0.

Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy (ACM) is a life-threatening, genetically determined disease primarily caused by mutations in desmosomal genes, such as PKP2. Currently, there is no etiological therapy for ACM due to its complex and not fully elucidated pathogenesis. Various cardiac cell types affected by the genetic mutation, such as cardiomyocytes (CM) and cardiac mesenchymal stromal cells (cMSC), individually contribute to the ACM phenotype, driving functional abnormalities and fibro-fatty substitution, respectively.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant concern due to its impact on human health, particularly through pneumonia-induced lung damage. Surfactant proteins A and D (SP-A and SP-D) are implicated in COVID-19 lung damage, but the role of surfactant protein B (SP-B) remains unclear.

Methods: We conducted a single-centre, prospective observational study involving 73 hospitalised COVID-19 pneumonia patients.

: Diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes (T2D), is linked with an increased risk of developing coronary heart disease (CHD). The present study aimed to evaluate potential circulating biomarkers of CHD by adopting a targeted proteomic approach based on proximity extension assays (PEA). : The study was based on 30 patients with both T2D and CHD (group DC), 30 patients with T2D without CHD (group DN) and 29 patients without diabetes but with a diagnosis of CHD (group NC).
