Article Synopsis
  • Existing research on child undernutrition shows a limited understanding of how weather, specifically rainfall and temperature, affects childhood growth in tropical regions.
  • This study analyzed 41 out of 829 relevant studies, focusing on the relationship between weather patterns and linear growth in children under five, using statistical methods to synthesize the data.
  • Findings indicate that increased rainfall positively correlates with childhood growth (0.049 standard deviation increase per standard deviation of rainfall), while higher temperatures negatively affect growth (0.039 standard deviation decrease per standard deviation of temperature), with variations based on location and socio-economic factors.
