Background: The identification of factors associated with functional impairment, in particular those which are potentially modifiable, may help to delay the advanced stages of functional dependence in patients with neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The objectives of the MEMORA cohort are to investigate the factors associated, first with functional autonomy change over time, and secondarily with the cognitive performance and behavioral disorders changes over time.
Methods: The MEMORA study is a multicenter prospective cohort study carried out throughout the patient's care pathway, in Memory centers of Lyon (France).
Introduction: Fluoroquinolones (FQ) are widely used because of their broad spectrum and their ease of use, especially in the elderly. Nevertheless, their misuse is behind the development and the emergence of bacterial resistances. The objective of this study was to evaluate the compliance of FQ prescriptions in the elderly hospitalized, before and after pharmaceutical interventions (PI).

Aim: Identification of the risk factors for UTI in elderly patients.
Background: Controlling urinary tract infections (UTIs) associated with intermittent catheterization in geriatric patients.
Aim: After a local epidemiological study identified high rates of UTI, a multi-disciplinary working group implemented and evaluated corrective measures.
Methods: In 2009, a one-month prospective study measured the incidence of UTI, controlled for risk factors and exposure, in six geriatric hospitals.
Geriatric assessment is a method aimed to describe elderly individual's health status. Effectiveness has been demonstrated in different domains. The ultimate outcome of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment is the development of a coordinated care plan in which geriatric interventions focus on the particular problems of each patient.
