The UK Deceased Donor Kidney Transplant Outcome Prediction (UK-DTOP) Tool, developed using advanced artificial intelligence (AI), significantly enhances the prediction of outcomes for deceased-donor kidney transplants in the UK. This study analyzed data from the UK Transplant Registry (UKTR), including 29,713 transplant cases between 2008 and 2022, to assess the predictive performance of three machine learning models: XGBoost, Random Survival Forest, and Optimal Decision Tree. African swine fever virus (ASFV) causes a severe hemorrhagic disease in pigs, leading to up to 100% case fatality. The virus May persist on solid surfaces for long periods; thus, fomites, such as contaminated clothing, footwear, farming tools, equipment, and transport vehicles, May contribute to the indirect transmission of the virus. Here, a plastic surface functionalized with tall oil rosin was tested against ASFV.

CREB gene family (ATF1, CREB1, CREM) fusions with either EWSR1 or FUS gene partners drive the pathogenesis of a wide range of neoplasms, including various soft tissue tumors, intracranial myxoid mesenchymal tumors (IMMTs), hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC), and rare mesotheliomas. Recently, a SMARCA2::CREM fusion was reported in one case each of IMMT and HCCC. In this study, we expand the clinicopathologic and molecular spectrum of these neoplasms by describing three additional cases with SMARCA2::CREM and one with a novel SMARCA4::CREM fusion, highlighting the recurrent potential of additional CREB gene fusion partners beyond FET family members.

Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is the primary treatment for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), known to stimulate inflammatory cytokines, notably interferon (IFN)-γ. We observed that prolonged IFN-γ exposure fosters adaptive resistance in recurrent tumors, aiding immune evasion and tumor proliferation. We identify HLA-E and NKG2A, part of a novel NK and T cell checkpoint pathway, as key mediators of resistance in BCG-unresponsive NMIBC.
