The recent development of microacoustic metagratings opens up promising possibilities for manipulating acoustic wavefronts passively, particularly in applications such as flat acoustic lenses and ultra-high frequency ultrasound imaging. The emergence of two-photon polymerization has made it feasible to precisely manufacture microscopic structures, as required when metagratings are scaled to MHz frequencies in airborne ultrasound. Nevertheless, the downsizing process presents another hurdle as the increased thermoviscous effects result in substantial losses that must be considered during the design phase.

Little is known about the influence of (impaired) neurodevelopment on cognitive aging. We here used a mouse model for tuberous sclerosis (TS) carrying a heterozygous deletion of the Tsc2 gene. Loss of Tsc2 function leads to mTOR hyperactivity in mice and patients.

Adaptive nanopore sequencing as a diagnostic method for imprinting disorders and episignature analysis revealed an intragenic duplication of Exon 6 and 7 in UBE3A (NM_000462.5) in a patient with relatively mild Angelman-like syndrome. In an all-in-one nanopore sequencing analysis DNA hypomethylation of the SNURF:TSS-DMR, known contributing deletions on the maternal allele and point mutations in UBE3A could be ruled out as disease drivers.

Chronic stress has become a predominant factor associated with a variety of psychiatric disorders, such as depression and anxiety, in both human and animal models. Although multiple studies have looked at transcriptional changes after social defeat stress, these studies primarily focus on bulk tissues, which might dilute important molecular signatures of social interaction in activated cells. In this study, we employed the Arc-GFP mouse model in conjunction with chronic social defeat (CSD) to selectively isolate activated nuclei (AN) populations in the ventral hippocampus (vHIP) and prefrontal cortex (PFC) of resilient and susceptible animals.
