[Soft-tissue contour plastic repair of the maxillofacial area using a biologically compatible polyacrylamide gel].

Polyacrylamide hydrogel was used in contour plastic repair of maxillofacial soft tissues in 161 female patients. The remote results (up to 2 years after the manipulation) demonstrate the advantages of this method over traditional surgery. Biogel preserves the natural appearance of soft tissues of the face; the clinical effect is stable.

[Tactics in surgical treatment of combined and complicated forms of active tuberculosis of the spine and lung].

Questions related to surgical treatment of combined forms of active spinal and pulmonary tuberculosis are discussed. The results of conservative and surgical treatment of 14 patients with this pathology were analysed. Tactics of treatment of such patients was established.

[The use of ultrasonic methods for assessing renal blood flow].

A study of possibilities of different ultrasound (US) methods in the estimation of renal blood flow was made in 35 patients with angiographically documented renal artery stenosis. The validity of data obtained with US B-scanning and Doppler technique was estimated by comparison with direct artery diameter and US blood flow measurements made intraoperatively during reconstructive renal artery surgery in 25 patients. It was shown that US Doppler spectral characteristics obtained noninvasively before surgery and intraoperatively were identical.

[Dopplerography and ultrasonic scanning of the internal thoracic artery and of mammary-coronary shunts].

The study was performed in 22 patients with ischemic heart disease who underwent direct myocardial revascularization. The functional and structural state of mammary arteries was estimated by the noninvasive Duplex scanning before surgical operation to evaluate the possibility of using them as mammary-coronary bypasses (MCB). Direct blood velocity measurements in the bypasses during aortocoronary bypass (ACB) surgery and MCB were made by ultrasound pulsed Doppler system with a 10 MHz transducer.
