Article Synopsis
  • Clarithromycin (CLR) is a crucial antibiotic for treating Helicobacter pylori infections, but there is a lack of data on resistance patterns in Russia.
  • Researchers used whole genome sequencing (WGS) to analyze 44 clinical H. pylori isolates from 2014-2022, finding that 23 were CLR-resistant while 21 were susceptible.
  • The study identified specific genetic mutations in the 23S rRNA gene that reliably predict resistance, and it also compared mutations in virulence-related genes between resistant and susceptible strains, highlighting a significant deletion in the HP0820 gene as a key area for future research.

The genome of aerobic methanotroph Methylococcus capsulatus Bath possesses genes of three biochemical pathways of C1-carbon assimilation: the ribulose monophosphate cycle, the Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle, and the partial serine cycle. Numerous studies have demonstrated that during methanotrophic growth cells of Methylococcus capsulatus Bath express key enzymes of these routes. In this study, the role of the serine cycle key enzymes, serine-glyoxylate aminotransferase (Sga) and malyl-CoA lyase (Mcl) in metabolism of Methylococcus capsulatus Bath was investigated by gene inactivation.

Age-associated disorders, including cognitive functions, that often occur in geriatric patients, necessitate the use of novel approaches to provide appropriate medical care, pharmacoprophylaxis and pharmacotherapy among them. At the same time, an important objective of the national healthcare system is not only stimulating of pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies to expand the range of medicines intended for elderly patients, but also increasing availability of medicinal products, including the integration of extemporaneous formulations into clinical practice. Presented review considers several features of the regulation of the use of extemporaneous formulations in the treatment of geriatric patients.

The worlds older population is growing dramatically. At the same time, ensuring an appropriate high standard of living for the elderly by reducing of morbidity and disability of geriatric patients is one of the main objectives of the modern healthcare system. However, changes associated with body aging necessitate application of novel approaches to the correction of pharmacotherapy and usage of specialized dosage forms.

In the fight against coronavirus infection, control of the immune response is of decisive importance, an important component of which is the seroprevalence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. Immunity to SARS-CoV-2 is formed either naturally or artificially through vaccination. The purpose of this study was to assess the seroprevalence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in the population of Kyrgyzstan.
