Benefits and limitations of the transfer online of Irish College of General Practitioners continuing medical education small group learning during the COVID pandemic: a national Delphi study.

Background: In Ireland and internationally, small-group learning (SGL) has been shown to be an effective way of delivering continuing medical education (CME) and changing clinical practice.

Research Question: This study sought to determine the benefits and limitations, as reported by Irish GPs, of the change of CME-SGL from face-to-face to online learning during COVID.

Methods: GPs were invited to participate via email through their respective CME tutors.

Comparison of recovery of sheep, goats, and calves from reversible electrical head-only and head-to-body stunning for halal meat production.

Aims: To compare the recovery of lambs, goats, and calves from head-only (HO) or high-frequency head-to-body stunning and evaluate the complementary use of behaviour and electroencephalography (EEG) to assess return to consciousness after electrical stunning in these species.

Methods: Six-month-old lambs, adult goats and calves (< 7 days old) were subjected to reversible head-only stunning (50 Hz, 1 A, 2 seconds) or reversible high-frequency head-to-body stunning (RHTB: HO followed by 2,000 Hz, 2 A, 4-second stun to body). Following stunning, behavioural recovery was assessed in 21 lambs, 22 goats, and 20 calves.

Assessing the scale and ecological impact of derelict and discarded fishing gear across Thailand via the MARsCI citizen science protocol.

South-East Asia is among the least studied regions for the growing issue of marine debris pollution, despite being a major contributor towards global marine debris. In the present study, we provide the preliminary results from the MARsCI project, a survey protocol designed to utilise citizen science to facilitate data collection on the ecological impact of discarded fishing gear (DFG) in Thailand. Over a three-year period, 103 surveys were carried out across Thailand, resulting in impact assessment of 606 pieces of DFG.

Belongingness among first-generation students at Stanford School of Medicine.

Background: Nationally, underrepresented minorities represent a significant proportion of the first-generation student population. These students also tend to report lower levels of belongingness compared to their peers, which may impact their wellness and be an important factor in their academic success. This study aimed to explore whether status as a first-generation student was associated with belongingness amongst medical students.

Low-Grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm Causing Equivocal Appendicitis: A Case Report.

Appendicitis is one of the most common diagnoses that general surgeons encounter in practice. An exceedingly rare cause of this disease is neoplasm. We report the case of a 24-year-old female who presented with non-specific right lower quadrant abdominal pain and equivocal findings of appendicitis and pelvic congestion syndrome on CT imaging.
