Challenge of gastro-intestinal stromal tumor management in low-income countries: example of Benin.

Background: GISTs are rare tumors but the most frequent mesenchymal tumors of the digestive tract. Diagnosis and treatment are challenging in low-income countries due to relatively poor access to immunohistochemistry and targeted therapy. In Africa, there are few studies about it.

[Epidemiological and histopathological aspects of sarcomas in Cotonou (Benin) from 2010 to 2020].

Aims: To study the epidemiological and histopathological characteristics of sarcomas.

Procedure: This was a multi-center, descriptive, retrospective study realized over a 10-year period. We systematically recruited all medical reports of patients with histologically confirmed sarcoma.

Anatomical variants of the celiac trunk.

Aim Of The Study: Determine the anatomical variants of the celiac trunk and describe it in its modal form using a scanner.

Patients: In total, 200 patients were included in this study.

Material And Methods: The study was carried out using a multi-detector scanner (SIEMENS Somatom Emotion Excel Edition, 16 bars).

Internal hernia strangulated on appendicular tourniquet: a case report of an exceptional anomaly of the appendix revealed by a rare hernia.

Background: Internal hernias and the appendicular tourniquet are two rare pathologies.

Case Presentation: We report here a case of a 68-year-old obese patient, who has acute small bowel obstruction due to strangulated internal hernia through an appendicular tourniquet. This appendicular tourniquet results from the adhesion between the tip of the appendix and its body.
