In the present study, we introduce parafoveal letter confusion matrices for the Russian language, which uses the Cyrillic script. To ensure that our confusion rates reflect parafoveal processing and no other effects, we employed an adapted boundary paradigm (Rayner, 1975) that prevented the participants from directly fixating the letter stimuli. Additionally, we assessed confusability under isolated and word-like (crowded) conditions using two modern fonts, since previous research showed that letter recognition depended on crowding and font (Coates, 2015; Pelli et al.

Several studies have shown an anti-inflammatory effect of NMDA receptor antagonists. This study compares the effect of the noncompetitive low-affinity NMDA receptor antagonist N-(2-adamantyl)-hexamethyleneimine hydrochloride (hemantane) in a topical formulation (gel) with the cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor diclofenac in a topical formulation (gel) in rats with arthritis induced by Freund's Complete Adjuvant (FCA).

However, mechanistic insights are still lacking on how EVs are released through the cell walls in Gram-positive bacteria. In this study, we characterized underlying mechanisms of EV production and provide evidence for a role of prophage activation in EV release using the Gram-positive bacterium Lactococcus lactis as a model.

Yet, the ability to form meaningful theories of reading is contingent on the availability of cross-linguistic behavioral data. This paper offers new insights into aspects of reading behavior that are shared and those that vary systematically across languages through an investigation of eye-tracking data from 13 languages recorded during text reading.

Unlabelled: The inclusion of 7-10-year-old children in the school system occurs in the context of the interaction of two processes: activation of ontogenesis at this stage of age development and stimulation of biological and psychological adaptation of younger schoolchildren to the learning activity. The main factors negatively affecting the health of elementary school students are the following: hypokinesia, mental and psycho-emotional stress related to computer and digital learning technologies, prolonged stay in closed rooms of the educational institution rather than in the natural environment. In this regard, it is relevant to find ways to improve the adaptive capacity of children, their physical development (PD), musculoskeletal system (MS), and muscular core as a biological basis for learning activities.
