Hemolytic anemia is a rare and unique complication of alectinib, not observed with other anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inhibitors. Here, we present a case of an ALK fusion-positive non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patient who developed liver failure due to diffuse liver metastasis at initial diagnosis. Treatment was initiated with low-dose alectinib, but the patient developed severe hemolytic anemia.

Sarcopenia assessed at a single time point is associated with the efficacy of immunotherapy, and we hypothesized that longitudinal changes in muscle mass may also be important. This retrospective study included patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received durvalumab treatment after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) between January 2017 and April 2023. Muscle loss and sarcopenia were assessed based on the lumbar skeletal muscle area.

Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) and leptomeningeal metastasis are difficult conditions with limited treatment options. We report a case of CUP leptomeningeal metastasis that was refractory to empirical chemotherapy but achieved a favorable response to intrathecal trastuzumab after the identification of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) amplification. A 59-year-old woman was diagnosed with CUP with metastasis of a poorly differentiated carcinoma to the left axillary, anterior mediastinal, peritoneal, and bilateral supraclavicular lymph nodes.

Tacrolimus (FK506), an immunosuppressant and calcineurin inhibitor, has fungicidal effects. However, its fungicidal effect is thought to be limited to basidiomycetes, such as and , and not to ascomycetes. FK506 had no fungicidal effect on , , , , , , and (>8 µg/mL); however, was susceptible to it at low concentrations of 0.

In situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations of a Ni(O)-Sc2O3-stabilized ZrO2 (ScSZ; 10 mol% Sc2O3, 1 mol% CeO2, 89 mol% ZrO2) anode in a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) have been performed at high temperatures under a hydrogen/oxygen gas atmosphere using an environmental transmission electron microscope (ETEM); the specimens were removed from cross-sections of the real SOFC by focused ion beam milling and lifting. When heating the NiO-ScSZ anode under a hydrogen atmosphere of 3 mbar in ETEM, nano-pores were formed at the grain boundaries and on the surface of NiO particles at around 400°C due to the volume shrinkage accompanying the reduction of NiO to Ni. Moreover, densification of Ni occurred when increasing the temperature from 600 to 700°C.
