Diagnostic performance of ultrasound in assessing the extension of disease in advanced ovarian cancer.

Background: Surgical exploration remains the gold standard for evaluating the extension of disease and predicting resectability. A laparoscopy-based scoring model was developed by Fagotti and colleagues in 2006 and updated in 2015, based on the intraoperative presence or absence of some specific cancer features. The model proved an overall accuracy rate of 77% to 100% and is considered the reference test for assessing resectability in our institution.

Extra-abdominal ovarian cancer presenting with breast metastases at diagnosis: Case report and literature review.

Objective: Malignant ovarian tumours are diagnosed at an advanced stage in the majority of cases. However, only a small percentage present as extra-abdominal, non-lymph-node solid metastases, as in the breast, and they are usually cases of relapse. Surgical laparoscopic treatment of bowel endometriosis with transvaginal resection of the rectum using ultrasonically activated shears: a retrospective cohort study with description of technique.

Background: To asses the results of laparoscopic surgical treatment of bowel endometriosis with transvaginal resection of the rectum employing ultrasonic energy retrospective study.

Method: 100 patients with symptoms of narrowing or partial obstruction of colon were submitted to laparoscopic resection of rectosigmoid tract through a vaginal route. Length of surgery, blood loss, histopathological extent of rectal invasion, surgical complications, and length of hospital stay were the main analyzed outcomes.
