The vascular exploration of the proximal femoral artery perforator region, an ideal donor site to choose cutaneous flaps of thin, supple, and glabrous skin: A cadaveric study.

Background: The thigh region is a well-known area for harvesting cutaneous flaps for microsurgery replacement, given the characteristics of the skin: thin, flexible, and glabrous. We investigated the vascular pattern of 32 cadaveric anteroproximal thighs for the possibility of an extended harvesting area, which we call the proximal femoral artery perforator region.

Materials And Methods: We injected colored, radio opaque latex in the external iliac artery and investigated the perforator branches from the superficial circumflex iliac, femoral common, superficial, and deep femoral (profunda femoris) arteries to the skin of the proximal femoral artery perforator region.

Bone wax or Horsley wax, which is used very frequently in bone surgery, is a non-absorbable mixture of beeswax (70%) and Vaseline. It permits the haemostasis of bone gaps by mechanical obstruction of bone pores containing blood capillaries. Complications due to this product are rare but sometimes quoted in literature.

[Resurfacing of a trochanteric pressure sore by a pedicled fasciocutaneous anterolateral thigh flap: a case report].

The anterolateral thigh flap is usually used as a free flap for various kinds of reconstruction and resurfacing of distant areas. Cover of a deep trochanteric pressure sore is commonly made by muscular or musculocutaneous flaps such as tensor of fascia lata or vastus lateralis. We report the case of a trochanteric pressure sore covered by a fasciocutaneous pedicled anterolateral thigh flap after negative pressure therapy in a 58-year-old paraplegic patient.

[Intermaxillary fixation: technique and benefit for piezosurgical sagittal split osteotomy].

Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess piezosurgical sagittal split osteotomy with peroperative inter maxillary fixation.

Material And Method: We studied 25 bimaxillary osteotomies, 50 sagittal split osteotomies performed with this technique. It included both maxillomandibular fixation during all the split osteotomy and performing split osteotomy in five steps.
