Objective: Examine the demographic and social determinants of health linked to pediatric esophageal foreign body removals, with an emphasis on button battery ingestions.
Study Design: A retrospective chart review was performed on pediatric patients who underwent operative removal of a foreign body from the esophagus (Current Procedural Terminologies [CPTs] 43215, 43194).
Setting: The study was conducted across four hospitals from November 2010 to December 2023.
Environmental pollutant exposure has been demonstrated to be associated with the onset and progression of asthma. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl), as an environmental exposure-relevant chlorine-based disinfectant, its role in asthmatic airway inflammation remains unclear. Through administering HOCl in drinking water during early life and the perinatal period, we discovered that early-life HOCl drinking water exposure not only aggravated airway inflammation in asthmatic mice but also that perinatal HOCl drinking water exposure could promote airway inflammation in the offspring of asthmatic mice.

Serum Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is increased in AIGAs syndrome, but the role of serum IgE levels in the clinical features and disease outcomes of AIGAs syndrome is not clear.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 163 patients diagnosed AIGAs syndrome with serum IgE examined at baseline from 2021 to 2024 and compared the clinical features between Group A (serum IgE level ≤ 212 IU/mL) and Group B (serum IgE level > 212 IU/mL).
