Disjunct distribution of (Orthoptera, Acrididae) from the Black Belt Prairie of Alabama, United States.

Inventories of the flora and insect fauna of the Black Belt Prairie of Mississippi and Alabama have documented disjunct populations of species broadly distributed in the Great Plains, including two grasshopper species. During a recent survey of a large privately-owned prairie remnant in Sumter Co., Alabama, we documented a disjunct population of a third grasshopper species - , extending the known distribution of this species significantly eastwards.

Immune checkpoint blockade lowers the threshold of naïve T-cell priming to drug-associated antigens in a dose-dependent fashion.

A growing body of clinical and experimental evidence indicates that immune checkpoint blockade enhances patient susceptibility to hypersensitivity reactions to co-administered medications. In this study, we utilized an in vitro T-cell priming assay to demonstrate one of the mechanistic hypotheses on how this occurs; through lowering of the threshold in patients to elicit aberrant T-cell responses. We outline the dependency of de novo T-cell priming responses to drug-associated antigens on dose at initial exposure.

Omeprazole-Associated Atypical Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) in a Patient with Positive In Vitro Diagnostic Testing to Multiple Proton Pump Inhibitors.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a commonly used class of drugs with a good safety profile. However, their use is associated with rare cases of severe skin reaction. Herein, we present details of a patient who developed two episodes of omeprazole-induced delayed-onset hypersensitivity (atypical drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms [DRESS]).

Immunological Drug-Drug Interactions Affect the Efficacy and Safety of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Therapies.

With the rapid expansion in the development and clinical utility of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for oncology, the continual evaluation of the safety profile of such agents is imperative. The safety profile of ICIs as monotherapy is dominated by immune-related adverse events, which can be considered as an extension of the mechanism of action of these immunomodulatory drugs. Further to this, an emerging theme is that ICI treatment can significantly impact upon the tolerability of coadministered medications.
