Background: The effectiveness of ustekinumab (UST) in the treatment of Crohn's disease (CD) has been demonstrated in the pivotal Phase 3 UNITI 1 and 2 and IM-UNITI studies in both anti-TNF-naïve and anti-TNF-exposed patients. Given the selective nature of pivotal trial designs, real-world effectiveness and safety studies are warranted. We report our experience with UST treatment in a large, real-world multicenter cohort of Brazilian patients with CD.

von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHLS) is a rare, autosomal dominant genetic disease with high penetrance and variable phenotypic expression caused by variants in the gene. VHLS is associated with the presence of vascular tumors, often hemangioblastoma of the central nervous system, retina, or spinal cord and, less frequently, pancreatic cystic neoplasm, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, clear cell carcinoma of the kidney, endolymphatic sac tumor, pheochromocytoma, and paraganglioma. The authors report a case of a patient with VHLS with a rare pathogenic variant in the gene and with an optic nerve hemangioblastoma, a rare phenotypic expression.

Experience in the treatment of 150 patients with anorectal disorders and disorders of the sacrococcygeal region who were operated on with local anesthesia at the University Hospital, ABC Medical School, São Bernardo do Campo, SP, Brazil, from March 1995 to March 1998.
