Amyloidosis is a group of proteinopathies characterized by the systemic or organ-specific deposition of proteins in the form of amyloid fibers. Nearly 40 proteins play a role in these pathologies, and the structures of the associated fibers are beginning to be determined by Cryo-EM. However, the molecular events underlying the process, such as fiber nucleation and elongation, are poorly understood, which impairs developing efficient therapies.

This study aimed to compare the effects of cellobiose hydrolysis, whether occurring inside or outside the cell, on the ability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains to ferment this sugar and then apply the most effective strategy to industrial S. cerevisiae strains. Firstly, two recombinant laboratory S.

Metallogels built in a bottom-up approach by metal coordination and supramolecular interactions have important potential for the elaboration of smart materials. In this context, we present here the formation of supramolecular coordination polymers driven by the complexation of cobalt(II) or zinc(II) ions with polyoxometalate-based hybrids displaying two terpyridine ligands in a linear arrangement. Thanks to the electrostatic interactions between the polyoxometalate cores and metal nodes, the polymer chains self-assemble into fibers that physically cross-link to form gels above a critical concentration.

The aim of this study was to compare two different strains of Pekin duck and to answer one scientific hypothesis: 1) Strain and sex influence live body weight, hot and cold carcass weights and carcass portions weights and yields, fatty acid content, fatty acid total cholesterol and α-tocopherol contents of meat. The study used 50 individuals of each strain in comparison (Cherry Valley and Grimaud) equally divided between both sexes), raised in equal rearing and feeding conditions. The results show that, when raised in equal rearing and feeding conditions and slaughtered at matching age, the strain had no significant influence on live body weight at slaughter, warm and cold carcass weights.

The effect of partial replacement of cereals by increasing levels of almond hulls (AH) was tested in twenty-four lambs distributed into three dietary treatments: 1) diet without replacement of cereals with AH (0AH); 2) diet with replacement of cereals with 9% of AH (9AH); and 3) diet with replacement of cereals with 18% of AH (18AH). All diets included 40% dehydrated lucerne and 5% soybean oil. Dry matter intake, growth performance, feed costs, carcass traits, meat quality, and lipid oxidative stability of raw and cooked meat during refrigerated storage were evaluated.
