In the present work, the analytical performance of three multi-way algorithms has been evaluated. The proposed analytical problem was the simultaneous determination of moxifloxacin and ciprofloxacin in human urine samples using fluorescence spectroscopy. Parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC), self-weighted alternating trilinear decomposition (SWATLD) and unfolded partial least squares combined with the residual bilinearization procedure (U-PLS/RBL) have been compared, regarding their ability to solve the proposed problem.

At negative time delays, transient reflectivity spectra show pronounced oscillatory structure around the quantum dot exciton line, providing the first evidence for a perturbed free induction decay of the excitonic polarization. Phase-disturbing Coulomb interactions between the excitonic polarization and continuum excitations dominate the optical nonlinearity on ultrafast time scales.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe demonstrate spin transport and spin lifetime enhancement in GaAs quantum wells induced by the traveling piezoelectric field of a surface acoustic wave (SAW). Spin transport lengths of about 3 microm corresponding to spin relaxation times during transport over 1 ns are observed, which are considerably longer than the exciton spin diffusion lengths in the absence of a SAW. The slow spin relaxation is attributed to a reduced electron-hole exchange interaction, when the carriers are spatially separated by the lateral potential modulation induced by the SAW.
