Background: Clear identification of the round window (RW) through the facial recess is a key surgical step for successful cochlear implantation (CI) surgery, which may be very challenging in some cases. Objective is to predict round window (RW) accessibility during CI surgery using high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT).

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed preoperative HRCT scans of 142 patients who underwent CI surgery via the standard posterior tympanotomy approach at our ENT Head and Neck Surgery department.

The petrosquamosal sinus is a rare and almost unknown emissary vein of the temporal bone. It traverses the middle cranial fossa along the petrosquamosal fissure and connects dural sinuses with extracranial venous networks. It is known to undergo normal involution during fetal and early postnatal life, and therefore is rarely found in humans.

Endovascular management of uretero-Iliac artery fistula.

Uretero-Iliac artery fistula (UIAF) is a rare condition in vascular surgery, its prognosis remains poor with a high mortality, requires rapid multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment. We report the case of an uretero-Iliac artery fistula in a 65-year-old patient who underwent total pelvectomy with trans-ileal cutaneous ureterostomy (Bricker), followed by pelvic radiotherapy, and placement of a single J ureteral stent, diagnosed by abdominal and pelvic CT, and treated by endovascular approach.

Surgical management of a congenital arteriovenous fistula of the forearm.

Congenital arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a rare vascular disease, which may occur anywhere in the body. The forearm is a very rare location. Clinical manifestations are not very specific and can vary from an asymptomatic fistula to a life-threatening congestive heart failure.

External jugular vein spontaneous aneurysm: a case report.

Venous aneurysm of external jugular vein is very rare clinical entity. Often asymptomatic, the diagnosis may be suggested by clinical features and is usually confirmed by imaging. Surgical excision is indicated in symptomatic aneurysms and for esthetic reasons, other treatments such as endovascular treatment are being evaluated.
