With the increasing number of molecular biology techniques, large numbers of oligonucleotides are frequently involved in individual research projects. Thus, a dedicated electronic oligonucleotide management system is expected to provide several benefits such as increased oligonucleotide traceability, facilitated sharing of oligonucleotides between laboratories, and simplified (bulk) ordering of oligonucleotides. Herein, we describe OligoPrime, an information system for oligonucleotide management, which presents a computational support for all steps in an oligonucleotide lifecycle, namely, from its ordering and storage to its application, and disposal.

Targeted mutagenesis has shown that cyclin A2 is essential for early embryonic development while cyclin A1 is required only for male meiosis. The embryonic lethality of cyclin A2 knockout mice has obviated understanding its role in other aspects of mammalian development, including the germ line.

Methods: Cyclin A1 expression was quantified in 55 cryopreserved testicular tissue specimens by fluorescence real-time RT-PCR. A conventional histological work-up was performed concomitantly in all tissue specimens with additional semi-thin sectioning in all cases of non-obstructive azoospermia (n = 12), maturation arrest (n = 17) and Sertoli cell-only syndrome (SCOS; n = 9).
The objective of this study was to establish a classification of meiotic disorders by detection of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and cyclin A1 mRNA in patients presenting with non-obstructive azoospermia. GAPDH and cyclin A1 expression levels were detected in 37 histologically classified testicular tissue specimens by one-line RT-PCR. Levels of cyclin A1 expression (NCyclinA1) were high in tissue specimens with full spermatogenesis [3.

In mitotic cells, this is accomplished by the Cdk-activating-kinase (CAK), which is a complex of cyclin H and Cdk7. There are currently no data on the role of CAK in meiotic cells.
