ABY-029, an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) Affibody® molecule conjugated to IRDye 800CW, recently underwent first-in-human testing in soft-tissue sarcoma (STS). FDA Exploratory Investigational New Drug status was obtained for the Phase 0 clinical trial in which study objectives were to determine whether biological variance ratio (BVR) of 10 was achievable, fluorescence intensity correlated with EGFR expression, and doses were well tolerated. Patients (N=12) with STS were recruited based on positive EGFR immunohistochemical staining of diagnostic biopsies.

Tropomyosin kinase receptor B (TrkB) has been explored as a therapeutic target for neurological and psychiatric disorders. However, the development of TrkB agonists was hindered by our poor understanding of the TrkB agonist binding location and affinity (both affect the regulation of disorder types). This motivated us to develop a combined computational and experimental approach to study TrkB binders.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) are prevalent conditions linked to obesity and metabolic disturbances, with potential complications such as cirrhosis and cardiovascular risks. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy of pemafibrate, a drug targeting fat and sugar metabolism genes, in treating patients with MASLD/MASH.

Methods: Databases such as MEDLINE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Scopus were searched until September 2023 to identify relevant studies.

Introduction: Traditionally, research institutions have valued individual achievements such as principal investigator and lead authorship status as primary indicators in the academic promotions process. However, the scientific process increasingly requires collaboration by teams of researchers across multiple disciplines, sometimes including experts outside academia, often referred to as "team science." We sought to determine whether there is agreement about what constitutes team science at our academic institution and whether current promotion processes sufficiently incentivize faculty participation in team science.
