Knowledge of the spatial distribution of many polar seabird species is incomplete due to the remoteness of their breeding locations. Here, we compiled a new database of published and unpublished records of all known snow petrel breeding sites. We quantified local environmental conditions at sites by appending indices of climate and substrate, and regional-scale conditions by appending 30 year mean (1992-2021) sea-ice conditions within accessible foraging areas.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the short-term and long-term skeletal and dental asymmetry with miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE), rapid palatal expansion (RPE), and control group using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) analysis.

Methods: A total of 180 CBCT scans were analyzed for 60 patients divided into 3 groups: MARPE (mean age 13.7 ± 1.

[M(arene)(HQ)Cl] complexes (M = Ru/Os/Rh/Ir; HQ = 8-hydroxyquinoline) have shown promise as anticancer agents. To assess the effect of conjugating biotin (vitamin B7) to such compounds and improve their tumor-targeting ability through interaction with the sodium-dependent multivitamin transporter (SMVT), the chlorido co-ligand was exchanged with biotinylated 6-aminoindazole. The complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, and purity was determined by elemental analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • Bacteria evolve mechanisms to optimize resource competition and adapt to new environments, specifically focusing on the import of isethionate by the sulfate-reducing bacterium Oleidesulfovibrio alaskensis.
  • This species uses a TRAP transporter (OaIsePQM) to facilitate isethionate import, with OaIseP binding the substrate and delivering it to the transporter for cellular uptake.
  • The study revealed the binding affinity of isethionate to OaIseP, provided structural insights into the protein’s conformation with and without the substrate, and suggests implications for antibiotic development targeting TRAP transporters.

Zwitterionic polymers have been found to be biocompatible alternatives to poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) for conjugation to proteins. This work reports the site-selective conjugation of poly(caprolactone-carboxybetaine) (pCLZ) to human growth hormone receptor antagonist (GHA) B2036-alkyne and investigation of safety, activity, and pharmacokinetics. Azide-end-functionalized pCLZs were synthesized and conjugated to GHA B2036-alkyne via copper-catalyzed click reaction.
