Introduction: Access to electric light has exposed living organisms to varying intensities of light throughout the 24 h day. Dim light at night (DLAN) is an inappropriate signal for the biological clock, which is responsible for the circadian organization of physiology. During the gestational period, physiological adaptations occur to ensure a successful pregnancy and optimal fetal development.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates actinic conjunctivitis (AC) and its connection to actinic prurigo (AP) in Indigenous populations from Chiapas, Mexico, focusing on clinical manifestations and onset.* ! -
  • Out of 2913 patients, only 54 (1.8%) were diagnosed with AC, predominantly affecting individuals around 36 years old, with the majority experiencing significant sun exposure and environmental factors like cooking with biomass fuels.* ! -
  • Findings indicate that AC can manifest as the sole symptom of AP and often presents at advanced stages, with a notable link to exposure to farm animals, and previously unreported cases of evaporation dry eye disease associated with AC.* !

(1) Background: Hospital malnutrition and sarcopenia are common in inpatients and are associated with worse prognosis. Our objective is to determine the association of the positivity of CIPA (Control of Intakes, Proteins and Anthropometry) nutrition screening tool and sarcopenia and evaluate its prognostic implications (length of stay, readmissions and mortality) as well as different components of body composition. (2) Methodology: Cross-sectional single-center study and prospective six months follow-up for prognostic variables.

Inhabitants of urban areas are constantly exposed to light at night, which is an important environmental factor leading to circadian disruption. Streetlights filtering light through the windows and night dim light lamps are common sources of dim light at night (DLAN). The female population is susceptible to circadian disruption.
