The catalytic photo-oxidation of p-aminobenzenesulfanilnamide (ABS) with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of Fe-pillared clay as heterogeneous catalyst has been investigated under UV-irradiation (λ = 254 nm). Fe-pillared clay was synthesized by intercalating the iron polyhydroxycomplexes into the interlayer space of a natural layered aluminosilicate - montmorillonite and a subsequent heat treatment at 500 °C. The catalyst was characterized by chemical analysis, low temperature nitrogen adsorption and XRD.

Tritium-labeled peptides with a specific radioactivity of 50-150 Ci/mmol were obtained by high temperature solid phase catalytic isotope exchange (HSCIE) with spillover tritium. The distribution of the isotope label among all amino acid residues of these peptides allows the simultaneous determination of practically all possible products of their enzymatic hydrolysis.
