Purpose: Ureteral stents are commonly placed intraoperatively during radical cystectomy, although their efficacy in reducing complications is unproven. We compared clinical outcomes among patients undergoing robot-assisted radical cystectomy with intracorporeal ileal conduit (RARC-IC) with or without ureteral stents to determine if omission of ureteral stents affects postoperative complications.

Materials And Methods: All RARC-IC surgeries performed at our institution between November 2017 and June 2023 were reviewed.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study analyzed outcomes of patients treated for muscle-invasive urothelial bladder cancer, identifying lymphovascular invasion (LVI) as a crucial predictor of recurrence-free survival (RFS), with patients lacking LVI showing significantly better outcomes.
  • * Genomic analysis revealed chemotherapy-resistant tumors had fewer mutations in DNA damage response genes compared to chemotherapy-naïve tumors, suggesting that certain genetic markers might guide patient management.

Background: The genus Ulex is composed by 15 species distributed in Europe and Africa, but the majority of them are restricted to the Iberian Peninsula and Northwest Africa. Some of these species are common elements at the landscape level, and others contribute to global biodiversity as narrow endemics. Assayed nuclear and plastid Sanger-sequenced regions do not provide enough resolution to perform evolutionary studies on the genus, neither at the intraspecific population level nor at the interspecific phylogenetic level.

Background: There is limited ability to accurately diagnose and clinically stage patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). The most easily available and widely used urinary biomarker is urine cytology, which evaluates cellular material yet lacks sensitivity. We sought to assess the feasibility of performing next-generation sequencing (NGS) on urine cytology specimens from patients with UTUC and evaluate the genomic concordance with tissue from primary tumor.
