The impact of pregnancy and breastfeeding on the development and outcomes of Multiple sclerosis (MS) has been debated for decades. Since several factors can influence the evolution of the disease, the protective role of multiparity and breastfeeding remains uncertain, as well the role of hormone replacement therapy in the perimenopausal period. We report two cases of relatively late-onset MS in two parous women, who developed their first neurological symptoms after six and nine pregnancies, respectively.

Recently, studies have focused on narcissism as a personality trait, which can be detected during childhood, and can lead to negative outcomes, such as emotional and behavioral problems. After illustrating the main hypotheses on the development of narcissistic traits in children, this paper aims to outline the relation between narcissism, self-esteem and emotional, and behavioral problems in children. Finally, are presented measures for the assessment of narcissistic traits in children and adolescents.

Background: The extubation phase is an extremely critical moment in patients who have undergone orthotopic liver transplantation, who do not always have the advantage of long-lasting positive-pressure ventilation and positive expiratory end pressure; these factors can lead to splanchnic venous congestion, and this is why a rapid extubation can represent a great benefit for the graft.

Methods: The aim of this study was to compare the adaptive support ventilation (ASV) mode with the standard mode of weaning in our intensive care unit, synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation with pressure support (P-SIMV), in patients who received orthotopic liver transplantation. ASV is a positive-pressure mode, in which pressure level and respiratory rate are automatically adjusted according to measured lung dynamics at each breath.

Emotion dysregulation has been found to be associated with specific eating attitudes and behavior in Eating Disorder (ED) patients. The present study evaluated whether emotional eating profile of ED patients changes over time and the possible effects of a psychotherapeutic intervention on the emotional eating dimension. One hundred and two ED patients (28 with Anorexia Nervosa restricting type [AN-R], 35 with Anorexia Nervosa binge/purging subtype [AN-B/P] and 39 with Bulimia Nervosa [BN]) were evaluated at baseline, at the end of a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, at 3 and 6 year follow-up.

Mycotoxins are low molecular weight secondary metabolites produced by certain strains of filamentous fungi such as Aspergillus, Penicillium and Fusarium, which attack crops in the field, and grow on foods also during storage under favorable conditions of temperature and humidity. Foods mainly contributing to the intake of mycotoxins with diet are cereals, maize being the most risky commodity due to the potential co-occurrence of more than one mycotoxin, this can be of particular concern especially for vulnerable group of population such as celiac patients that show increased maize-based products consumption. In this study the exposure of celiac patients to fumonisins (FBs) and zearalenone (ZON) has been assessed.
