Intensification of thermal risk in a changing climate: findings from prominent tourism destinations along the eastern Adriatic coast.

The climate and thermal comfort of а destination greatly influence the tourism industry. Therefore, this study was focused on researching thermal comfort changes and their impacts on visitors in four highly visited coastal destinations along the eastern Adriatic coast (Pula, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik) from 1996 to 2020, using the modified physiologically equivalent temperature index (mPET). The specific objective was to assess how the thermal comfort conditions are distributed spatially and temporally and how they are suitable for beach and sightseeing tourism.

Asymptomatic Subglottic Stenosis Discovered During Anesthesia Induction and Not Predicted by Preoperative Evaluation: A Case Report.

Subglottic stenosis (SGS) can be asymptomatic in cases with slow-growing granulomas. In this study, we report a case of SGS discovered during tracheal intubation for anesthesia induction. A 74-year-old woman was scheduled for surgery under general anesthesia for a left humeral fracture.

Mathematical-model-guided development of full-thickness epidermal equivalent.

Epidermal equivalents prepared with passaged keratinocytes are typically 10-20 μm thick, whereas intact human epidermis is up to 100 μm thick. Our established mathematical model of epidermal homeostasis predicted that the undulatory pattern of the papillary layer beneath the epidermis is a key determinant of epidermal thickness. Here, we tested this prediction by seeding human keratinocytes on polyester textiles with various fiber-structural patterns in culture dishes exposed to air, aiming to develop a more physiologically realistic epidermal model using passaged keratinocytes.
