Effect of Intravenous Dexamethasone Dose on the Occurrence of Rebound Pain after Axillary Plexus Block in Ambulatory Surgery.

Rebound pain (RP) remains a challenge in ambulatory surgery, characterized by severe pain upon resolution of a peripheral nerve block (PNB). Intravenous (IV) administration of Dexamethasone (DEXA) potentiates PNB analgesic effect and reduces RP incidence although preventive effective dose remains undetermined. This retrospective analysis evaluates the preventive effect of IV DEXA on RP in outpatients undergoing upper limb surgery under axillary block.

Purpose Of Review: The acute inflammatory reaction induced by tissue trauma causes pain but also promotes recovery. Recovery is highly variable among peoples. Effective acute pain (AP) management is very important but remains suboptimal what could affect long term outcomes.

A rectal metastasis of an unknown lobular breast carcinoma and its management.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women but gastro- intestinal metastases of breast cancer are rare. They can occur years after the diagnosis or at the diagnosis of breast cancer. We report the case of a patient complaining of dyschesia, tenesmus and anal incontinence leading to the discovery of a rectal metastasis of an unknown breast neoplasia.

Influence of Sternotomy on Delta Pulse Pressure and Delta Down During Open Chest Cardiac Surgery: A Preliminary Study.

Objective: Delta pulse pressure and delta down are used as dynamic preload indicators of fluid responsiveness during closed chest surgery. There are few data regarding their accuracy in open chest surgery. The present study aimed to evaluate the influence of sternotomy on the accuracy of both delta pulse pressure and delta down.

Background: According to the World Health Organization guidelines, field tests, in the context of a bid for the supply of alcohol-based hand rubs, should take into account climatic region, test period, products already in use, and type of use (hygienic or surgical) when assessing tolerance.
