The effects of glucocorticoids on insulin-stimulated lipogenesis in primary cultures of rat hepatocytes.

We used primary cultures of rat hepatocytes to evaluate the effects of glucocorticoids on insulin-responsive hepatic lipogenesis. The data indicate that hepatocytes incubated for 20 h with dexamethasone (0.1 microM) alone are profoundly resistant to the ability of insulin to stimulate lipogenesis acutely.

Short form MMPIs in medical consultation accuracy of the Hs-Hy dyad compared to the standard form.

Rescored 114 MMPIs of back pain patients, using the FAM and MMPI-168 method to determine whether the Hs-Hy dyad of individual profiles fell into designated diagnostic brackets consistent with the standard form MMPI. The specified categories were T scores greater than 75, T scores between 65-74, T scores less than 65. Overall efficiency for both the FAM and the 168 was 66%.

Lithium encephalopathy: a clinical, psychiatric, and EEG evaluation.

The authors present three cases in which lithium, in combination with a neuroleptic, is implicated in inducing an organic brain syndrome. Subsequent withdrawal of lithium reversed the clinical and EEG picture in the two patients seen in follow-up.
