Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are highly versatile nanomaterials in nanomedicine, owing to their diverse magnetic properties, which can be tailored through variations in size, shape, composition, and exposure to inductive magnetic fields. Over four decades of research have led to the clinical approval or ongoing trials of several MNP formulations, fueling continued innovation. Beyond traditional applications in drug delivery, imaging, and cancer hyperthermia, MNPs have increasingly advanced into molecular medicine.

A chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed efficient, operationally simple, general method for straightforward syntheses of axially chiral arylpyrazole employing -alkyl of 3-aryl-5-aminopyrazoles reacting with azonaphthalenes was achieved. A wide variety of axially chiral heterobiaryl diamines in generally good yields with excellent enantioselectivities were obtained under mild conditions. In addition, a scaled-up experiment and postmodification of the chiral product further highlighted the synthetic utility.

Objective: Selective decontamination of the digestive tract (SDD) has been investigated as a strategy to reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and other healthcare-associated infections in intensive care unit (ICU) patients receiving mechanical ventilation. There is some evidence to suggest that the use of SDD is associated with a reduction in healthcare-associated infection and mortality; however, the uptake of SDD in ICUs in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) remains low. To better understand the potential reasons, we designed a questionnaire to gather views from specialists in intensive care medicine, infectious diseases, and medical microbiology.
