Short-term functional outcomes of patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage in the native and expatriate population.

Objectives: Functional outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) have not been well characterized in the Middle East and North Africa Region. We report the 30 and 90-day clinical outcomes in the native and expatriate of Qatar with ICH.

Methods: We evaluated the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), NIHSS, and imaging in the Qatar Stroke Registry (2013-22).

A comprehensive review on the decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209)-induced male reproductive toxicity: Evidences from rodent studies.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), a class of brominated flame retardants (BFRs), are employed in various manufactured products to prevent fires, slow down their spread and reduce the resulting damages. Decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209), an example of PBDEs, accounts for approximately 82 % of the total production of PBDEs. BDE-209 is a thyroid hormone (TH)-disrupting chemical owing to its structural similarity with TH.

Development and Characterization of a Sustainable Bio-Polymer Concrete with a Low Carbon Footprint.

Polymer concrete (PC) has been used to replace cement concrete when harsh service conditions exist. Polymers have a high carbon footprint when considering their life cycle analysis, and with increased climate change concerns and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emission, bio-based polymers could be used as a sustainable alternative binder to produce PC. This paper examines the development and characterization of a novel bio-polymer concrete (BPC) using bio-based polyurethane used as the binder in lieu of cement, modified with benzoic acid and carboxyl-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs).

Association of food insecurity with early childhood caries.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the association of food insecurity on the prevalence of dental caries in preschool children.

Methods: Eighty-two children, aged 12-71 months old, from the Marquette University School of Dentistry Community South Clinic and their caregivers participated in this cross-sectional study. Following informed consent, parents completed the validated six-item US Department of Agriculture food insecurity questionnaire and questions regarding demographic information and family structure.
