Background: Using dietary interventions to steer the metabolic output of the gut microbiota towards specific health-promoting metabolites is often challenging due to interpersonal variation in treatment responses.

- Out of 2,590 adult heart transplant recipients analyzed, 17.1% were from DCD, with DCD recipients showing a higher rate of severe PGD at 24 hours post-transplant compared to DBD recipients (9.5% vs. 5.1%).
- While the 72-hour severe graft dysfunction rates and 30-day mortality were similar for both groups, PGD rates improved significantly by the 72-hour mark for all recipients.
Background: Pediatric firearm injuries disproportionately affect groups experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage. Firearm injuries increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the impact on communities by degree of socioeconomic disadvantage is unknown.
