pH influences the reactivity of iron (II) minerals towards halogenated pollutants like hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs). To explore these incompletely understood interactions, we investigated the carbon isotope fractionation of the δ-HCH isomer during dehalogenation by iron sulfide at pHs spanning a pH range across slightly acidic to alkaline domains (5.8-9.

Article Synopsis
  • The study emphasizes the importance of on-site detection of glyphosate (Gly) in water using electrochemical sensors to enhance environmental and agricultural monitoring.
  • Two sensor approaches were tested: one modified with gold nanoparticles and graphene for improved conductivity, and another using molecularly imprinted polymers for superior sensitivity, with the latter achieving detection limits as low as 5 ng/L.
  • The research shows promising recovery rates in real water samples, indicating the methods' effectiveness, and suggests future studies on Glyphosate's long-term effects on water quality and ecosystem health.

Arthritis is an unusual manifestation of paraneoplastic syndrome, appearing in a variety of cancers, including pulmonary and colorectal. It can often pose a diagnostic challenge to physicians, since it may be difficult to distinguish from more commonly encountered rheumatic illnesses. Moreover, synchronous cancers are rare and unexpected in patients with symmetrical polyarthritis.

Five types of honey (multifloral, sunflower, linden, rapeseed, and acacia), from Southern Romania, were classified using chemometrics methods coupled with IR spectroscopy. The botanical origin's effect on the physicochemical characteristics of honey was studied to highlight the most valuable plant source of honey. Except for antioxidant activity, the moisture, ash, electrical conductivity (EC), pH, free acidity (FA), total sugar content (TSC), hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), total phenolic (TPC), tannin (TTC), and flavonoid content (TFC) were significantly influenced by the botanical origin of the honey.

Although traditional management for esophageal and esogastric cancer has been improved, survival at 5 years is still low, and immunotherapy could be a way to improve it. In addition to the predictive value of the response to immunotherapy, PD-L1 also has a known prognostic value. We aimed to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of PD-L1, CD8+ T-cell, and CD4/CD25+ T-cell (Tregs) infiltration and their relationship in esophageal and gastroesophageal junction carcinoma.
