Introduction: Skull base osteomyelitis is a rare but potentially life-threatening disease. It usually occurs as a complication of severe otitis externa or infection in the nasopharynx, often in immunocompromised patients. The therapeutic strategy is complex, patient-specific and requires interdisciplinary cooperation.

Article Synopsis
  • International guidelines for imaging follow-up after pancreatic resection for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are inconsistent, leading to varied follow-up strategies globally.
  • The study aimed to compare clinical outcomes, including treatment for recurrence and survival rates, between patients who received either symptomatic follow-up or routine imaging after PDAC surgery across 33 international centers.
  • A total of 333 patients were analyzed, showing that 29% had symptomatic follow-up while 71% underwent routine imaging, with overall survival rates being examined through statistical methods to identify the impact of the follow-up strategy on patient outcomes.

We present the results of a search for the b→dℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} flavor-changing neutral-current rare decays B^{+,0}→(η,ω,π^{+,0},ρ^{+,0})e^{+}e^{-} and B^{+,0}→(η,ω,π^{0},ρ^{+})μ^{+}μ^{-} using a 711  fb^{-1} data sample that contains 772×10^{6}  BB[over ¯] events. The data were collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. We find no evidence for signal and set upper limits on branching fractions at the 90% confidence level in the range (3.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers applied advanced engineering techniques to improve Prussian blue analogue (PBA) cathodes, exploring both cubic and monoclinic crystal structures.
  • They used various characterization methods to study the electrochemical behavior of these PBAs, revealing key insights into their performance.
  • The cubic PBA structure showed notable advantages after optimization, including better cycling stability, good reversibility, minimal capacity loss, and high thermal stability even under challenging conditions.

: Scuba divers often experience persistent inert gas narcosis (IGN) even after surfacing. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that breathing oxygen (O) before surfacing can reduce postdive IGN. : A group of 58 experienced divers underwent a 5 min dive at a depth of 50 m in a multi-place hyperbaric chamber.
