Purpose: To assess the effect of different intensity standardisation techniques (ISTs) and ComBat batch sizes on radiomics survival model performance and stability in a heterogenous, multi-centre cohort of patients with glioblastoma (GBM).

Methods: Multi-centre pre-operative MRI acquired between 2014 and 2020 in patients with IDH-wildtype unifocal WHO grade 4 GBM were retrospectively evaluated. WhiteStripe (WS), Nyul histogram matching (HM), and Z-score (ZS) ISTs were applied before radiomic feature (RF) extraction.

Article Synopsis
  • Warmer and variable temperatures are linked to the decline of Atlantic salmon in Eastern Canada, raising concerns about how these temperature changes affect fish swimming performance.
  • The study investigates the effects of warm versus cool daily temperature changes on swimming efficiency and overall swimming capabilities in juvenile Atlantic salmon.
  • Results show that while acclimation to different thermal profiles didn't significantly impact swimming efficiency, sudden exposure to higher temperatures did elevate metabolic rates, suggesting that salmon can still swim effectively in both warm and cool conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • PFAS are a group of harmful chemicals used in many industries that persist in the environment and pose concerns for public health due to their stability and human exposure.* -
  • The study investigated the effects of eleven prevalent PFAS on the nematode C. elegans, focusing on learning and memory impairment as well as bioaccumulation at various concentrations.* -
  • Results indicated that PFOS and PFBS significantly inhibited learning and memory at higher concentrations, and these substances also showed the greatest levels of bioaccumulation after 48 hours of exposure.*
