Relationship between social support, life satisfaction, and smoking status among US adults with cardiovascular risks.

Social support and life satisfaction are important determinants of health behaviors and health outcomes. Cigarette smoking, a health risk behavior that increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, is deemed to have association with perceived social support and life satisfaction. This study assessed this relationship among US adults with one or more cardiovascular (CV) risks, namely, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity.

Associations Between a Social Determinant of Health Summary Measure and Self-Reported Physical and Mental Health Among Cancer Survivors.

Objective: We sought to examine the associations between a social needs measure and physical, and mental health among cancer survivors in the United States.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis using the 2022 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey involving 16,930 eligible cancer survivors. The primary outcomes of interest were self-reported physical and mental health in the past 30 days.

Introduction: Medical financial hardship in the United States is a growing public health concern. This study aims to assess the south vs. non-south disparities in medical financial hardship among US adults of different generations - Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964), Generation X (born between 1965 and 1980), and the Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) across periods pre- and post- Affordable Care Act (ACA).

How effective are church-based weight-loss interventions among Black adults? A systematic review.

Objective: Churches are frequently used to reach Black adults to effect weight loss. However, there has been no recent review, to our knowledge, inclusive of solely Black adults in church settings. We sought to comprehensively examine the methodological approaches and weight-loss outcomes of church-based weight-loss lifestyle interventions conducted among Black adults to provide insights on literature gaps and offer suggestions for future research.
