Purpose: The AT LARA 829MP is a next-generation extended depth of focus (EDOF) intraocular lens (IOL) providing continuous vision over a range of distances. The aim of this prospective multi-centre randomised trial was to compare two EDOF IOLs and one monofocal IOL.
Methods: Cataract patients between 50 and 80 years were randomised for bilateral implantation with either the AT LARA 829MP (EDOF), the TECNIS Symfony (EDOF) or the CT ASPHINA 409MP (monofocal).
Purpose: To evaluate clinical outcomes with a premium diffractive-refractive trifocal toric intraocular lens (IOL) over a 12-month period.
Methods: Multicentre prospective clinical trial including 227 eyes of 114 patients undergoing cataract surgery with bilateral implantation of the AT LISA tri toric 939MP IOL (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany). One patient was implanted unilaterally.
We report a study of astigmatism and postoperative complications in 170 eyes following phacoemulsification and implantation of a flexible silicone intraocular lens (SI-18NB) in the capsular bag. No significant difference existed between the preoperative mean astigmatism and the postoperative mean astigmatism after 7 days and after 1 month. Complications were infrequent and compared with those associated with PMMA intraocular lenses.

Congenital ptosis of the upper lid is classified as a developmental anomaly of the levator muscle. We report the histochemical findings in 38 specimens of levator muscle removed in patients with congenital ptosis and operated on by a resection of the levator muscle. Results demonstrated a close relationship between the presence or the absence of muscular fibres in the specimen and the degree of ptosis and the levator function.
