Article Synopsis
- The study aimed to assess how well a new oral rinse with sodium hyaluronate helps reduce symptoms related to dry mouth (xerostomia).
- Conducted over 8 weeks with 37 participants, it compared the new rinse (GUM®HYDRAL™) against a placebo and Biotene in a double-blind manner, utilizing various assessment tools for symptoms and saliva flow.
- Results indicated that the new oral rinse significantly improved both subjective and objective measures of dry mouth, outperforming the placebo and showing superior effectiveness compared to the other control rinse.
Purpose: This review paper is intended to provide updated information about the significance of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) related to dental departments and also to provide treatment information. However, it does not review anti-resorptive related osteonecrosis of the jaw (ARONJ).
Methods: PubMED was searched for published articles on BRONJ that have particular relevance to clinical aspects in orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, implants and treatment planning.
Article Synopsis
- A study assessed the impact of full mouth rehabilitation (FMR) on the oral health-related quality of life of physically disabled children aged 11-14 in Saudi Arabia.
- The test group (97 children) underwent FMR and showed significant improvements in oral symptoms and overall quality of life after 6 months compared to the control group (89 children) that did not receive FMR.
- Parents of the test group noted positive but insignificant changes in family distress, highlighting the broader benefits of better oral health on children's well-being.
