Background: To measure the frequency and nature of wounds in patients treated in general practice and to describe the patients' tetanus vaccination status and the sources providing information about this status.
Methods: A descriptive, prospective, week-long, national electronic survey was conducted among general practitioners within the Sentinelles network.
Results: The participation rate was 12.
Background: Predictive clinical scores, diagnostic as well as prognostic, are considered to be useful tools for making decisions under conditions of uncertainty. They are not intended to replace clinical judgment or medical experience, but to help physicians in the interpretation of clinical information. The general practitioner (GP), the gateway to care in the French health system, should be the main beneficiary of their utilization.

The results of 26 years of monitoring in general practice by the Sentinel network are analysed, such as hospitalisation data between 2004 and 2010, as well as mortality data between 2000 and 2009. The annual incidence rate has plummeted between 1986 and 2011, from 859 cases per 100,000 inhabitants [95% CI: 798-920] to 9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants [95% CI: 4-14].
