  • The study focused on Australian patients with atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome (aHUS) who were treated with eculizumab, a medication provided through a compassionate access program.
  • A total of 10 patients participated, mostly younger adults, and various forms of aHUS were observed, including acute presentations and cases post-transplantation, with the majority achieving remission after treatment.
  • Despite some complications reported during eculizumab therapy, the overall outcome showed that eculizumab is a viable treatment option for aHUS, particularly for those when other treatments were ineffective.
