Integration of multi-omic data for the purposes of biomarker discovery can provide novel and robust panels across multiple biological compartments. Appropriate analytical methods are key to ensuring accurate and meaningful outputs in the multi-omic setting. Here, we extensively profile the proteome and transcriptome of patient pancreatic cyst fluid (PCF) (n = 32) and serum (n = 68), before integrating matched omic and biofluid data, to identify biomarkers of pancreatic cancer risk.

Radiotherapy is used to treat over 50 % of cancer patients. It is often used in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy, for cancers of the breast, lung, oesophagus, and rectum. Ionising radiation predominantly exerts its anti-cancer effect through both direct DNA damage and indirectly via water radiolysis and the production of reactive oxygen species.

Unlabelled: Only 20-30% of oesophageal adenocarcinoma (OAC) patients achieve a complete response to neoadjuvant chemo-radiotherapy for locally advanced tumours. Enhancing the response to radiation therapy is critical for improving outcomes in this aggressive cancer. Pyrazinib (P3) is a promising compound with radiosensitizing, anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-metabolic properties.

Article Synopsis
  • The study identified sixteen compounds from the ethyl acetate extract of seeds related to a specific species and evaluated the wound-healing effects of a combination of BMMSCs and this extract in immunocompromised rats.
  • The combination therapy was found to reduce oxidative stress, lower pro-inflammatory cytokines, and inhibit NF-KB activation after 16 days.
  • Key genes linked to wound healing were identified, with pathways indicating positive effects on cell migration and locomotion, highlighting the potential of this approach in regenerative medicine, though further safety tests and clinical trials are needed.
